Cathy Matz-Townsend

Graduate in business administration and insurance broker

Cathy Matz-Townsend was born in the USA. She has lived in Germany since 1971, studied business and marketing and graduated as a Diplom-Betriebswirtin in 1985. She became an independent insurance broker in 1988 and has a practice providing insurance and investment support to a German and international client base resident in Germany. Cathy is registered in Germany under section 34d paragraph 1 GewO.

Cathy was awarded the German “geprüfte Finanzdienstleisterin” qualification, specializing in health insurance and long-term pension planning in 1991.

She is also a certified Generational Adviser (IHK) since 2015.

John Townsend

John Townsend has lived in Germany since 2001 after previously residing in Great Britain, Japan and the United States. He has degrees from the London School of Economics (B.Sc. Econ) and the University of Santa Clara, California (Master of Business Administration).

John is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI), the leading professional body of the finance profession in the United Kingdom. He has experience in hedge fund and private equity portfolio construction as well as placement to international institutions, banks, family offices and high net worth clients in the U.K. and in Germany.

John also has many years of international experience in the global fixed income, OTC swaps and derivatives markets which were placed with central banks, international institutions and commercial banks. He had the registered representative qualification of the Canadian Stock Exchanges.

John is fluent in English and German. He publishes regular opinion letters in both languages about current topics in international economics and finance. He has been constructing investment fund portfolios for clients of Matz-Townsend Finanzplanung since 2004.
